NYC Half Marathon in 158 Days

Woke up this morning and was a little sore.  For a brief period thought about bagging the run, but it is only the second day, so that would not have been good.  Figured I would just walk or something just to keep the legs moving.  Turns out I was able to run.  I’m sore as Hell now… but I did get a run in this morning.

Day -158

Woke up at 5:35am

Gym at 6:05am

Ran 2 miles in 24.30 min for a average mile of 12.15.

NYC Half Marathon in 159 Days

I think I have decided to run the NYC Half Marathon on March 20, 2011.  I have 159 days to whip myself into shape.  I have not yet “officially” entered my name into the lottery, but I have begun my training.  It looked a little like this:

Okay… not really… but it was a TRAINING MONTAGE!

Ran 2 miles in 25.20 min for a average mile of 12.40.

Steve’s 5K

Back in February I decided to start running.  I found a program online that was a guide to going from a couch potato to running a 5K in 8 weeks.  So, I tried to follow it as best I could.  Eventually, I lost interest.  But when the weather got nice I took to the open road and decided to see how far I could run…

Turns out, not that far.

However, after running fairly consistently, I got myself up to 3 miles (a 5K is 3.1M).  As luck would have it, there was a 5K being run right near my house.  How great was that?  So, I signed up and ran.  I did the 5K in 38 min.  Not bad for a first timer.  I finished 74th out of about 150.  Below are some gross photos of the finish line.
