My sister and Michael were married this past November 6, 2010.  The ceremony and reception were held at a great private beach club called the Old Field Club.  It was a perfect Fall day.  My sister and Michael did all the decorating themselves, and it was all very Autumnal.  Lots of oranges, browns, reds, etc.  The food was very Fall.  Everything was just great.

Jack was the Ring Bearer.  We did not practice with him at all.  When the time came we just told him to hold the hand of the Flower Girl and walk towards Aunt Jessica… and it worked.  It was great!  The two of them were adorable.  Jack had such a fun time.  We all did!  He was a little cranky during pictures, but was the perfect little gentleman the rest of the evening.

As an extra added bonus, it was time to turn the clocks back.  Since Jack was up so late for the wedding, there was no effect whatsoever on his schedule.  Thanks Jess and Mike!

All the best to the newly married couple!

New Camera

We finally bit the bullet and got a new camera.  We have been thinking about it for a while, but had originally planned on getting another point and shoot.  Then, thanks to some guys I work with, I started getting interested in SLRs.  One thing led to another, and I have been convinced it was the way to go.  Jen was convinced soon after.

After going back and forth between the Canon T2i and the Canon 60D I decided to spend a little more money on the 60D.  The camera is a little bigger, and little heavier, a little sturdier feeling.  Technically the cameras were about even with the 60D having a few extra features that one day I will learn to use.  I think we made the right choice.  It certainly is a camera we will have for a long time.

It is really a Christmas/Birthday gift, but since we have so many events in November/December we decided that we would get it early so we could use it for all these events.  I have been playing with the camera and trying learn it.  There is A LOT to learn.  So many settings.  Below are some photos from the first few days.  I hope they will get better…

New Post Thumbnail Post

Confusing title?  Sure.  But I’m trying to test some changes I made in the site.  When I create a post I can assign a thumbnail to it.  If I don’t assign one, it puts one in for me.  But it was a dumb thumbnail.  Just a picture of a camera with a few pictures.  It was black and white and ugly.  So, I made a new one.  A better one.  A cooler one.

Now if it only works…

Our 5 Year Anniversary

5 years ago I stood, pale and sweaty, at the alter of a church in upper Westchester County.  Then, my wife-to-be walked through the doors and I suddenly felt much better.  While that day was one of the greatest in my life, what followed was also amazing.  10 days in Hawaii (4 in Kauai, 1 in Oahu and 5 in Maui).  We had such a great time on our honeymoon, we swore that we would make it back in 5 years…

And we did!  11 days in Maui.  You just can’t beat it.  We did so many great things this time around.  We really got around the island and saw a lot of what Maui had to offer.  So, before we left, we made another promise.  I look forward to going back in 5 more years!

Steve’s 5K

Back in February I decided to start running.  I found a program online that was a guide to going from a couch potato to running a 5K in 8 weeks.  So, I tried to follow it as best I could.  Eventually, I lost interest.  But when the weather got nice I took to the open road and decided to see how far I could run…

Turns out, not that far.

However, after running fairly consistently, I got myself up to 3 miles (a 5K is 3.1M).  As luck would have it, there was a 5K being run right near my house.  How great was that?  So, I signed up and ran.  I did the 5K in 38 min.  Not bad for a first timer.  I finished 74th out of about 150.  Below are some gross photos of the finish line.

VT Bound

I’m sitting in the back of the car with Jack on the way to VT. So far this trip has been 100 times more pleasant than Labor Day Weekend. Not sue if its because he took an hour nap at the start or if he’s just getting used to being in the car.

I may have spoke to soon. He’s starting to get antsy as I type this.

Sesame Street Mad Men Parody

I have always been a huge fan of anything Jim Henson.  All my life.  I grew up with Sesame Street, Muppets, Fraggles, Dark Crystal, etc.  Now, as a 30 year old man, I can get away with still liking Muppets.  Its socially acceptable… or at least I don’t get too many strange looks.  But Sesame Street kind of fell to the wayside.

Now that I am a Dad, I have started watching again.  It is a really funny show.  Sure, its geared towards a younger audience, but there is a lot of humor for parents too.  I realize I am stating the obvious here, as the whole draw of Sesame Street was to entertain kids and parents, but it is still true.  There are times when I find myself watching when Jack has gone off to pull all his clothes out of the draw.

We picked up our new car last night!  Its very very nice.  Feels good to drive a V6 again.  Of course, its red, so I will probably get 100 speeding tickets.  Just kidding, I’m a very safe drive.

Set up all of Jack’s stuff in the car, but he hasn’t been inside it yet.  His first ride will be this weekend.  I hope he likes it as much as we do!
